{short description of image} “Your Momentary Pain Will Reap Eternal Gain”

To anyone reading this article that is going through an affliction, I have “Good News.” I hope and Pray that this “Good News” will forever change the way you perceive trouble, trials, afflictions, and persecutions.

The life changing “Good News” that God has given me to share with you is found in  2 Corinthians 4:17,18. It reads; “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.”

1) FOR OUR LIGHT AFFLICTION; Whether you realize it or not, God sees your affliction, trial, test, etc. as light. Although your affliction may seem heavy, or even appear to be more than you can bear, God says it’s light. Maybe it seems heavy to you because you haven’t totally turned it over to the Lord. God does not need your help to carry it. Once you truly cast your burden upon the Lord, you will instantly begin to feel lighter.

2) WHICH IS BUT FOR A MOMENT; Do you realize that everything in this life is temporary. Understanding that the trouble won’t last always can bring a measure of peace into any situation. Your affliction, whether it be a sickness, disease, or financial hardship, problem in your marriage, or trouble with your children, is but for a moment. Relax, It’s Temporary! The great Gospel singer James Cleveland sang “This To Will Pass”. It’s just for a moment. Thank God It’s Only Temporary!

3) “WORKETH FOR US; Although it may seem like the affliction is working against you, it is not. According to this passage of scripture the affliction is working for you. As long as God is God, there is no weapon that satan can form against you that can prosper, or succeed in your life. The only thing it can do is work together for your good, or work for you. Are you in a better home, job, or maybe even healthier today because of an affliction or something that appeared to be negative? Did it work for you or against you? God’s thoughts are not our thoughts, neither are His ways our ways.

4) A FAR MORE EXCEEDING; Not only is the affliction working for you, but in the end it will produce something (“far more exceeding”), greater than, bigger than, anything you may have lost in the process of going through. Although a woman goes through the affliction of labor pains, the baby that is born is her “far more exceeding” reward.

5) ETERNAL WEIGHT OF GLORY; The best news of all is that the blessings that result from your affliction will be glorious, and yours for all eternity.

So stop looking at the affliction as though it has come into your life to stay, or as though it is going to do any real damage. It’s only for a moment, and it is the means by which God is going to bless you. Big afflictions produce big blessings. By faith, believe that God is working right now on your behalf in the Spirit. The unseen things of God are ETERNAL. God says the affliction, trial, or trouble that you are facing is light. Then God reminds us that the affliction is but for a moment, temporary. Then He reveals to us that the affliction is not working against us as we thought, but it is working for us. God then encourages us by giving us the understanding that no matter how terrible the affliction may be, there is a “far more exceeding” blessing being produced. Finally God promises that although the affliction was but for a moment or temporary, the blessings that will come as a result of our going through and not giving up will be GLORIOUS and ETERNAL. ”Your Momentary Pain, Will Reap Eternal Gain” Hold on, for “He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” Philippians 1:6
